Mythology
Artemis Thor has nearly the most disappointing appearance known to wizard kind. Okay, so that may be a bit of an exaggeration but it's true more or less. Arty has always had natural good looks, but the disappointing factor is that his personality clashes so deadly with it. Standing at a towering six foot one, he is usually a force to be reckoned with. He has a strong build, not the strongest, but decent enough. Upon his broad frame is a pale porcelain complexion however. Artemis isn't a shut away that never steps in to sunlight or anything, but somehow he's never managed to maintain a proper tan. His skin tan has always been pale, even since childhood, and it is unlikely to ever change.[/size][/blockquote]Personality:
Similar to his pale complexion, Artemis is fair-haired just like both his parents. His hair falls at about a medium length; not too long, not too short. Another quality inherited in the Thor gene pool are Artemis's blue eyes. His father actually has green eyes, but he inherited his blue eyes from his mother. In a sense, Arty's eyes are almost a little eerie, just because they're not a particularly natural blue. While most pale and fair haired kids recieve lighter blue eyes, Arty's are a peircing royal navy blue. They also happen to be a little wide set; only adding to their peculiarity. Aside from his eyes, there's nothing very stand off-ish about the rest of Ronan's facial features, except the overall fact that he has a bit of a long shaped face.
Throughout his years at Hogwarts, Arty can obviously be found proudly sporting Slytherin robes, but when out of uniform, Artemis has a rather classic approach to his wardrobe. He's not very flashy but he is very brand name, only because his parents have been dressing him in such all his life. Thanks to his privledged lifestyle, Arty can definately tell the fancy robes from the crappy ones in a second. But again, enough about robes. When not adorned in the Hogwarts school uniform, Artemis dresses in simple plain colors and simple peices of clothing. He's perfectly fine with jeans, much to the dismay of his fashion forward mother, but Artemis likes to pretend he doesn't try. He puts out the image that he throws together whatever he can find and it just works, but the truth is Artemis can't help distinguishing the fashionable clothing from the unfashionable clothing. He just knows that appeal is far more important than the price
Unknown to most Art is a cold calculating genius, a trait that he hides well beneath an expressionless mask. He is blunt and comes off as uncaring and careless in nature to most acquiantances. During his school years excelled in all of his classes, usually going above and beyond devising techniques to rearrange spells and recipes for potions. His ambition springs from the fact that he feels as if he is out to prove something - that he is just as good or even better than most Purebloods. Being Pureblood is both Artemis's greatest short coming but also his biggest accomplishment. He takes pride in being pure-blooded refering to himself as "Sly" in the security of his own thoughts. It isn't commonly known that Artemis is pureblooded, it isn't a fact that he discloses to most people.History:
Artemis harbors a deep hatred for his Father, after enduring years of torture both physical and psychological Arty no longer feels any pity towards him. His father is by far his greatest weakness because he is a muggle by birth and has deluted the asset of purebloodedness that Arty has sought to inherit and live up too since than. Although Artemis harbors little feelings for his mother, he has a tendency to blame the situation on her once and a while, her being the main reason why things turned out as they did. Sometimes he also allows her to foot the blame for the dysfunctional nature of their 'family.' He blames her because she chose "him" over everyone else.
School life was no better for Artemis, he was commonly the butt of every single joke. It wasn't uncommon for Arty to fight back, the fights in question usually resulted in a throw-back of curses and it sometimes even got physical. The taunting and torments that he had to succumb to during his school years only caused a deeper hatred to nest inside him. Especially for Cedric Diggory's small group of friends - the same group that would never leave him alone. The same group of people that almost got him killed. Arty will hold a lasting grudge against anyone that dares to do him any sort of minor or major injustice. He is known for his short patience and has a tendency to snap at even those he considers friends. Years of verbal abuse from others has finally allowed him to snap, it has eaten away at the top layers of his personality that had once kept him calm. Now Artemis can barely keep control of himself when the moment comes to fight or flee, usually he decides to sit his ground. Arty has stubborn tendencies that sometimes result in his own downfall, since he will not easily sway or bend to the conformed opinions of others he is seen as strange.
Although people speak bad about him, Arty barely seems harmed by their words now. Since the abuse has gone on so long he has developed a method with which to block it out. But that doesn't mean that he hasn't completely given up throwing back the occasional dim-witted insult. It is apparent that Arty tries his best when it comes to verbally outsmarting those who still try and bully him. Lately he has been stuck on trying to settle things with his wand.
Artemis Thor has always lived the lifestyle that every kid wishes they could live; though they're gravely mistaken. Arty's life seems like a bowl of cherries on the outside, but on the inside it's more like a bowl of brussel sprouts, unless you happen to actually enjoy brussel sprouts, in which case, ignore this analogy. Anyway, the point is: not everything is what it seems. Artemis lives with his parents and little sister at the Thor estate in London when he's not at school. His father Rupert works at the Ministry of Magic in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Sounds pretty upstanding doesn't it? Well that's where the brussel sprout analogy comes in. Rupert Thor appears to be the ideal contributing citizen, but in reality he delivers information from the ministry to the underground and fast growing group of death reapers. He is one of the most trusted and one of the most merciless to boot. Mrs. Thor, Rebecca, is a stay-at-home mum. She's never been employed in her life other than helping her husband on death reaper tasks, but she's not to be underestimated. Rebecca can be just as vile as her husband with a little effort. Generally though, her concern is more for the well being of her children.Ten Characteristics:
Speaking of children, Artemis is not the only one the attention is focused around in the Thor house hold. Arty has one little sister named Rachel. She is a fun loving young girl, and still innocent--- except for the time she pulled her goldfish out of the tank and stepped on it... repeatedly. Typically she is (of course) a slytherin just like her big brother and only a second year. Only twelve, she still has time to turn in to the cruel person she's likely to be. Nope, there aren't too many surprises in the Thor family. Regardless, Artemis adores his little sister, and though she annoys him frequently he's extremely protective over her. If anyone really wanted to crush Artemis Thor, all they'd have to do is hurt his little sister. Don't expect him to take it lightly though.
Growing up in the Thor home must seem like a dream for every kid but it is no less than a nightmare. Though both Thor children have been spoiled rotten since birth, the rotten part they never seemed to grow out of. Since early childhood, Artemis was always pushed in to doing things he didn't want to do, and then he had to excell exceptionally at them. One example is quidditch. Arty has been on the quidditch team since second year as chaser. He became captain in fifth year, and upheld that position in to sixth. Artemis has some incredible talent on the quidditch pitch, but as a kid he really never cared for it. His demanding and pushy father forced him to be the best he possibly could and then some. Artemis has become so clouded by everything his father forced him in to, that he's become convinced that they're all things he actual wants to do.
When it comes to academics, Artemis has always had a bit of a struggle. To the disappointment of his perfectionist father, the best Arty is capable of is steady average grades. Like everything else in Arty's life, his future is pretty plainly laid out in black and white. Upon leaving Hogwarts it'll be straight to the death reaper organization. Artemis doesn't fully understand the severity of the group, but Rupert has convinced him that anyone who's going to make something worth while in life would join. On that note, Artemis also carries the same prejudices that his parents do. It wouldn't be unlikely to find him tossing about the word 'mudblood' carelessly. Artemis lives under the constant need to impress everyone around him, and he's never been able to make a real decision in his life without the persuasion or influence of what he's been taught. Who knows? Perhaps Arty could have turned out to be an okay kid, but with parents like Rupert and Rebecca the good natured seventeen year old under all that is likely lost forever.
