As far as teenagers go, Izacke is fairly unremarkable. He is noticeable, perhaps, but it is a rare day that most people give him a second glance based on attractiveness. No, he has other reasons to be stared at.Personality:
Izacke isn't really attractive in the conventional sense. His face is angular, with hollowed cheekbones and almost sunken eyes that give him a malnourished look. His eyebrows often ride low, as he frequently has a thoughtful look upon his face. His lips are thin and naturally slightly downturned, forming a constant slight frown that wouldn't be so noticeable if his brow wasn't so often furrowed. His nose looks just a little too big for his face, and looks almost hooked, although it isn't quite. If one were to look at him head-on though, they would see that the bridge where cartilage meets bone is just slightly crooked, as though he had broken his nose at some point in the past.
His skin is terribly pale, and he has eyes to match. Both are very light grey, tinged with blue. His hair is perhaps the most noticeable, however. It is just as stark, being a pure snowy white color (a color certainly misplaced on a head as young as his). He wears the straight strands long, draped down behind his narrow shoulders and ending just below his shoulder blades. Occasionally he ties it back, but not very often. His eyebrows are the same stark white, and draw together almost into a unibrow, while his equally pale eyelashes tend to make his eyes look even more unearthly pale. This excessively pale look has earned him several nicknames, some less kind than others. Some of the first years have bought the rumor that he's a vampire, but obviously it isn't true. The reason he's so pale is that he is albino, a condition that is rare enough for most students to have never seen before.
In build, Izacke is long and lean. He is tall for his age, standing just over 5' 11," and promising to grow a little more before he reaches his full height. His build is lanky, and he is surprisingly light for his height, weighing only about 137 pounds. He doesn't have much muscle to his frame, but he doesn't have fat either. The small amount he does have is more stringy than bulky. He probably couldn't best someone several inches shorter than he in a physical fight, but he can run exceptionally fast when he wants to, and his reflexes are good as well. Like his facial complexion, his skin is excessively pale, and any body hair he might have is effectively invsible due to its own pale coloring (or lack thereof). His limbs are long, and his arms seem slightly out of proportion with his body. Oddly, a lot of people tend to notice his hands, which appear strong, and yet almost spindly, with long, pale fingers and translucent nails (under which the only vaguely pinkish color on his body can be seen). He has few markings on him, save for a group of lines on his back that look like scars from being whipped. Actually, they are stretch marks left over from last year, when he grew about eight inches in as many months.
Izacke, naturally, wears the uniform of the school during classes. However, when out of uniform he adopts more muggle-like dress (for it is, after all, what he is used to). He never wears anything but long pants, and rarely even wears short sleeves except over a long-sleeved shirt. His clothes are generally very plain, rarely having phrases or pictures on them (in the case of the shirts), or bold patterns. He gets cold easily, which is shown by his constantly ice-cold hands, and in almost every season but mid-summer he tends to wear sweatshirts and gloves and/or scarves. In winter, he bundles up under around four layers, and his lips often have a blue tinge to them. Any time of year, he can occasionally be seen outside with a small-brimmed hat and/or a pair of sunglasses to shield his sensitive eyes from the light.
Izacke can be hard to get close to, but only because he tends to be socially uncomfortable and is very, very shy. For someone so tall and generally noticeable, this is a bad position to be in. He rarely apeaks unless spoken to, except to ask the occasional question in a conversation he is supposed to be involved in. Even in class he is quiet, rarely raising his hand to answer any question at all. When someone comes up to talk to him that he doesn't know, his replies are usually short and quiet, although his uncharacteristically deep voice (which could carry easily across a Quidditch pitch if he so desired) doesn't allow him to remain completely unnoticed when he is speaking to someone.History:
Truly, all his physical features seem to have come together to make him as uncomfortable as possible socially. Izacke would like nothing more than to be short, brown haired and brown eyed, and generally unremarkable. That way he wouldn't stick out so much, or be a curiosity for the younger students and a subject of mockery for some of the elders (and those in his own year as well).
If he was so inclined, Izacke could look extremely threatening. However, he is almost as gentle a person as one would wish to find. He dislikes fighting immensely, either physically or verbally, and if anyone tries to argue with him he is always the first to back down. Despite (or perhaps because of) his timidity, he has extreme patience with people, animals, and otherwise. It is next to impossible to get him angry, and in fact no one has ever remembered it happening in the past, including his mother, who has obviously known him all his life. Generally, if provoked he will simply ignore the source of the irritation or walk away. Rarely will he bother to reply.
This timid attitude has made many students think he is stupid and simply can't come up with anything to say. This is not the case, however. Izacke is, in fact, extremely intelligent. He is at the top of his classes here for the most part. Defense Against the Dark Arts, where the students often practice hexes against each other or some unassuming creature, is easily his worst subject. More than once, Izacke has been sent out of the room for refusing to attack whatever subject was presented to him.
One thing very few would expect out of Izacke is his determination. This rarely comes to the fore, but it has on one or two occasions in the past, and with Voldemort taking over so much of the wizarding world it probably will again. Izacke may not argue verbally or fight, but he is no coward. When threatened over something he thinks is right, he will not just back down if it means someone else getting hurt. There are few people who have ever seen this side of him, but those who have are not likely to forget it any time soon.
Izacke does not seem to have many actual hobbies, but those he does have are more passions than hobbies. The first and foremost of these is art. Izacke loves drawing, painting, and even sculpting to some extent, although the latter is not his strong suit. He is rarely seen without his sketchbook however, and all the margins in his textbooks are filled in with doodles of various kinds. He also occasionally writes poems, but he is much more secretive about these, and never shows them to anyone regardless of the topic. He doesn't write them very often either, so really there aren't many to be found. He has only written maybe three in all his time at Hogwarts.
Overall, Izacke is very uncomfortable in his own skin, and doesn't think very highly of himself. It is hard to get close to him simply because he is so very shy, but if anyone would bother they would find one of the gentlest souls they were ever to meet.
Izacke was born to mother Rafaela and father Gervas Bahr. His father was a wizard of indeterminate breeding, while his mother was muggle-born. The couple had had two children previously. Their first, a boy they had named Hendrik, had died of pneumonia just a month before Rafaela gave birth to Izacke, and their second child, Gudrun, had died scarcely a week after her birth almost a year before. When Izacke was born, his parents both despaired to see him, for he was deathly pale and scrawny for a newborn, not to mention being already two weeks early.Ten Characteristics:
He clung to life for the first three weeks or so, during which time his parents fought quite a bit over whether or not to keep him. His father, who didn't want to have another disappointment, wanted to leave him with relatives or on the steps of St. Mungo's. His mother, however, wanted to keep him. Eventually, they divorced and his father left, leaving Izacke to be raised by his mother.
His life wasn't too eventful, overall. He grew up to be healthy enough, although his paleness never went away and he was not allowed outside on sunny days with the other children for fear of serios sunburn. This led to him being seen as a bit of a freak by the other children, and so he was left out those few times when he did go outside to play. He never developed many social skills, but he never minded much.
Izacke's mother works at the Ministry in the Department of Magical Catastrophes on the Invisibility Task Force, and though Izacke rarely accompanied her on actual jobs, he did go with her to the Ministry building every now and then. They saw his father there only once, and though Rafaela considered moving away or at least switching jobs after that, they never saw him again, so the issue was moot.
When Izacke was 11 years of age, he received the fabled letter from Hogwarts. He also received one from Durmstrang, where most of his father's family had attended, but his mother decided to send him to Hogwarts instead, as not only was the likelihood that Izacke would meet one of his father's relatives high, but the cold climate wouldn't be comfortable for him at any time of year.
He obtained a single pet before he went off to Hogwarts, and this was a large, long-haired snowy white female cat/Kneazle mix that he named Althea. She has a bit of a volatile temperament, and has been known to fight with Mrs. Norris on occasion, but overall she causes little trouble and is easily the living subject he uses most often in his drawings.
